‘Imagination’ is Macclesfield’s creative industries forum which was set up by Macclesfield Borough council and a number of local artists.

The Creative Industries are a significant contributor to the UK economy. The Authority has this as one of its key priorities and is committed to supporting this sector to enhance the development of this vibrant local economy. The Government’s Department of culture, Media and Sport has defined Creative Industries as: Architecture, Advertising, Antiques, Arts, Crafts, Design, Designer Fashion, Film & Video, Journalism, Leisure Software, Music, Performing Arts, Publishing, Television and Radio.

A diagnostic study undertaken showed Cheshire has 5% of the workforce employed in this sector, many of which are small businesses. That’s 13,600 people, accumulating a turnover of £600 million.

The ‘Imagination’ Forum aims to support members in many ways. We have organised a Showcase of members work at the Town Hall in Macclesfield, which is the first of its kind in the Borough. This website has been designed by members, to register their businesses and provide a platform for other opportunities available to Artists throughout Cheshire.
